Indie Book Recs

Welcome to my †Independent Book Recommendations page! I'll cut to the chase;

I want to support indie authors!

If you have an independently published story, collection, novel, etc. (whether you have written it or would just like to recommend it), comment below with...

-The author's name
-*The link to the author's website and/or social media
-Published piece's title
-Genre of the published piece
-Content disclaimer
-Target age
-A link to buy the published piece

*Optional, but preferred

Or genres, if the book you are recommending is an anthology or collection

When applicable; Please list the extremity of swears/cusses, sexual content, violent content, and other such themes.

I'll add it to my Indie TBR, buy it, read it,  and probably review it. If I like it, I will include it in my recommended section below.
I'll choose which rec to read by order of post (first come first served and all that). However, if multiple people request the same book, I'll probably prioritize that one above the rest.
I do ask that you check my list to make sure the book you recommend isn't already on it, as I regularly seek out indie work and may have read it already, but no worries if you recommend one of them by mistake; that just means we can geek out about the book together.

My goal with this is to read at least one indie book a month, but hopefully more because I do have my own TBR of indie books that I want to read in addition to whatever is recommended here.

Happy writing and reading!

                 ~ 𝓔. 𝓟.

((P.S. I am not bound to purchasing, reviewing, recommending,  or reading any work you recommend.))

How the books are organized:

There are multiple genres which are listed alphabetically. You may notice that "anthologies and collections" aren't actually genres, which is of course correct. The issue with anthologies is that they often have mixed genres. So, instead of the books all being divided up, they will have the genres in their stories listed below the titles.

Within each of the main  genres that the rest of the books are divided into, there are categories for the age group the books are targeted at.

Here's a reference for the age groups:

Middle Grade = 8-12

Young Adult = 12-18

New Adult = 18-25

Adult  = +25

Please note that this organization isn't based on my view of the books, but on the author's or the recommender's categorization
For this reason I strongly recommend you further investigate each book before purchasing it to see if it is right for you (especially if you are looking for books for a younger reader, as I have read middle grade books that had some content I personally wouldn't be comfortable with a person of that age reading).
I know it can be hard to find such information for indie books, so if you're uncertain about one you can see if my review (which will be listed) provides any insight, or feel free to ask me in the comment section or by carrier dragon (or email, if you're too casual for dragons) as I have read every book on this list.

Books that are in the same series will be listed in order and closer together, headed with the series' title. Stand-alones will be spaced apart and will not have a heading.
Series may not be listed in their entirety if I have yet to read all of their books; this doesn't necessarily mean that I read and disliked them.

Each title is linked to where you may purchase it, author names are linked to the authors' websites. There are some instances where a product is available to buy as either a digital or physical copy using separate links. In that case, you will need to search for the digital copy yourself, as I link to the physical copies if the option is available.

Reviews will be linked to the side of the titles (some titles may be missing reviews; they will be added as I write them).

Last note, regarding the "Dystopia" category:
The Dystopia genre is often two genres; dystopia for plot, and another for setting (either sci-fi or fantasy, in my experience) that is usually colored by dystopia.
Because of this, the Dystopia category is broken down into multiple genres so that if you prefer one to the other, you can easily find it.
If you are recommending a dystopia to me, I would appreciate you listing it in the genre section as "Dystopia ([secondary genre])", but if you're unsure of what secondary genre it leans more towards, you can just leave it as "Dystopia".

And that's everything! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them.
Enjoy the list!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
†An "indie book" is a book that was independently or self published. This means the author (usually) didn't sell it to anyone as they do with traditional pcblishment, that they did most of the work themselves (in regards to covers, editors, marketing, etc.), and in some cases that they've created their own "publishing house".
Basically the book is all their own, and they chosen an alternative path to making it accessible to readers.
An "indie author" is an author who has published one or more books independently (or self-published) and (usually) plans to continue to publish independently if at all.
    1. Thank you for the rec! I'll add it to my TBR.
      Aw that's a very kind offer, but I prefer to buy the copies, as that helps the algorithm of the books. :) (Plus I really like having physical copies, lol. ;D)
      It's my pleasure. ^-^ I'm always happy to help out indies.
