I have been asked before why I chose the name "Bleeding Ink" to represent my work.
And though it isn't much of a story, I've made this page so that you, if you were wondering, can see.
"Bleeding Ink" comes from a poem I wrote with a similar title.
It represents the deep love and passion that I, as a writer, hold deeply in my heart.
The thought is that my love for the magic of words and writing runs so deeply within me, that my very heart bleeds ink.
I admit that many of these rhymes would change if I were to edit this poem now, and frankly, I am hesitant to show this to you. It isn't my best work, and seems very boastful and proud.
But it is a staple of my career as a writer, and so I will not edit this. If I were to, it would no longer be the real 'reason' behind the name.
And so, without further ado, I give you "My Heart Bleeds Ink".
My Heart Bleeds Ink
By Edna Pellen My heart bleeds ink My hands are meant to write My brain drowns in thoughts that keep me up all night I am drawn to the blank page Like a moth is to a light
By Edna Pellen My heart bleeds ink My hands are meant to write My brain drowns in thoughts that keep me up all night I am drawn to the blank page Like a moth is to a light
Like a prince to a princess
Or a soul to a body
So the quill is to my hand
A belonging that none can copy
My mind is synced with my hands
Speaking clearer through pen then the mouth of man
I am meant to write, of that I’m sure
For it is written in the hidden pages of writers’ lore
Quickening pulse
A thirst for more
Frozen fingertips
Life filled eyes
Across the paper my hand flies
Pen to paper
Flickering candle light
Words found in favor
Written with great might
Into the well the tip of my pen will sink
I ask you, who can deny
That my heart bleeds ink
One wonders how a poem can so clearly define what my simple words cannot.
ReplyDeleteThis poem speaks to me as well as you.
I guess our hearts just bleed the same ink.
That's a lovely thought. :)
